Conventions of our trailer

Our trailer will in the genre of comedy, as it is spoof of various vampire films. We have taken the idea for our trailer due to the mass amount of vampire films that are currently being released, due to the popularity of films such as "Twilight" and programmes such as "True Blood" and "The Vampire Diaries". In our trailer, we will be parody various events taken from both the films and the tv shows, as well as the various romance elements in the programmes and films.

Our aim and key point of our trailer is to entertain the viewers and make them wish to see our film, parodying the films and they will either love or hate, with the people who love the genre going to see our film due to their love for vampire movies and wanting to be entertained, whilst the others going to see vampire movies having fun poked at them extensively.

We are hoping to market our film based on the themes and the comedy of the film trailer and film, and with the rising success of films in the parody genres, such as the Scary Movie franchise, we would be able to market our film with the idea of a long term franchise from our film.

Our film would be shown in major multiplexes, and marketed to a target audience of teenagers to young adults who enjoy comedy films. The reasoning for this is that due to this being a huge audience, in that the film and the trailer crosses over multiple genres, it is primarily aimed at a mass audience who consume popular culture.

Potential Scene Ideas

We brainstormed as a group and thought of different scenes that could potentially be funny for a young audience. We might not use all of these ideas but may shoot them and see how they turn out. We also need to think about the props used and how they could become quite expensive and the locations might be too hard to film from so theres a few things we need to think about before actually starting to film these scenes.

• We had an idea of having Steve the vampire walking down a busy corridor in the school and lifting his hands up and parting them like Moses and the Red sea, and as he is walking through the 'walls' of people collapse and he is swarmed by students and looks to be helplessly drowning in people.
• He sneaks through the window of what looks like a girl's bedroom, and creeps over to the 'girl' in the bed. As he goes to bite the person, they wake up and turn around, and it's actually a gay guy. The vampire then screams as the gay guy jumps on him.
• Steve walks into a room and theres a girl with blood all round her mouth (ketchup), romantic music comes on as he stares at her. She then holds up a burger with ketchup on and says "want some?"
• The vampire is lurking in a tree, reference to a scene in Twilight, he then clumsily falls out and lands on a trampoline and bounces back up.
• Steve eats Garlic Bread.
• In the midst of a party, we see Steve led faced down on the floor, drunk.
• A werewolf walks into the party with fluff and ears on him, everyone looks in shock, then two girls say, "he didn't get the memo" "It's not fancy dress", the werewolf then walks out sad and confused.
• Steve has a really fat cat that has its own cape, shot of him holding the cat with its belly out.
• Stood in the forest on a windy day, stood in a power stance, with his cape blowing in the wind. Cape blows round and hits him in the face.
• Steve running with his cape on, before stopping to use his inhaler

Film synopsis

A young (actually hundreds of years old) vampire joins college, but finds it hard to fit in, except for a few close geeky friends. When he is mocked by most of his college for his appearance and his odd behaviour, the vampire attempts to win them all over by trying to change his appearance and behaviour, resulting in the college believing him to be ‘gay’. After meeting a girl at the school who shows hardly any interest in him, the vampire tries to win her over, only to find out she is already in a relationship, who is discovered to also be a vampire. The vampire then has to face what life is like at college, with relationship problems, getting drunk, and growing up.
